Vicenza is an incredible setting for engagement photos. This lovely couple of expats from the US contacted me to plan a couple photoshoot to celebrate their recent engagement.

Expats in Vicenza, a perfect setting for a love story

Piazza dei Signori is the hearth of Vicenza‘s historical center. Vicenza is the city of Andrea Palladio, referred to as the “theater-city”. Andrea Palladio linked his name to this city thanks in part to his architectural works, and in 1994 the historic center of Vicenza was included by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Annie and Quinn have been living their love story in this beautiful Italian city for the past few months. Quinn is stationed at the Vicenza Army Base and enjoying his time in Italy with Annie. Annie is US based but is spending as much time as possible with him. They met at college and have been together ever since. While planning a wedding back in the US, they decided to celebrate and make memories in a place that will forever be in their heart, Vicenza.

A winter engagement photoshoot in Piazza dei Signori and Caffè Sorarù

Our shoot started in Piazza dei Signori in the early morning of a chilly February day. We explored this exceptional area with Venetian influences (Vicenza was part of the Republic of Venice) and found so many corners or beauty.

Piazza dei Signori is the most representative place in Vicenza. It is overlooked by the monumental Palladian Basilica with its double order of Serlian loggias. You will also see the 82-meter-high Bissara tower and the 16th-century Loggia del Capitaniato, the work of Palladio. All of these architectural elements create the best possible setting for a couple photoshoot.

Our photo session ended at Caffè Sorarù, an historical cafè in Piazza dei Signori. We had a coffee and a frittella to go to celebrate the start of the Carnival season, that is celebrated all over the region, not only in Venice (but if you want to see all of the Carnival traditions at their best, it is worth going to Venice to see it all!).
