Ready to start planning your dream photoshoot in Italy?
Planning a pre wedding photoshoot in Venice? Let me take you through a magical session I had with Betsy and Jeffrey—a couple who traveled all the way from Boston to capture their love story in the enchanting light of a Venetian sunrise.
Why Choose Venice for Your Pre Wedding Photoshoot?
Venice is one of the most romantic cities in the world. With its historic architecture, winding canals, and golden morning light, it’s the perfect destination for couples looking to capture timeless, elegant engagement or pre-wedding portraits.
And what’s better than experiencing Venice while the city is still quiet—before the tourists fill Piazza San Marco and the gondolas begin their day? A sunrise photoshoot in Venice means soft light, empty alleys, and the dreamy, cinematic mood that makes your photos stand out forever.

Before their wedding day, planned for 2020, they took two important decisions
They booked a trip to Venice, and they booked a photographic session with me. They had convened to finally take their first professional photographs together, as a couple.
Even though they had been together for nearly a decade, they had never taken professional photos together. This is something I hear often—many couples underestimate the emotional and lasting value of a professional pre-wedding shoot.
Betsy and Jeffrey live in Boston, they both have very demanding jobs, so it is no surprise that they didn’t find the time to create photographic memories before. She is a medical doctor and he is a businessman, and it was fascinating to learn more about their lives. This trip to Southern Europe gave them the perfect opportunity to pause and be present with each other—and create something beautiful in the process.
Checking out southern Europe for their destination wedding
They booked this European trip to check out possible destinations for their wedding. They finally chose Switzerland for their celebration, but they were happy to end their journey in Venice, with a very different landscape and vibe. Here they enjoyed a pre-wedding engagement photo session with the most perfect weather May can offer.

Sunrise Session Around San Marco, Venice
We began our Venice couple session early in the morning, right at sunrise. The golden light reflecting off the lagoon was absolutely magical. We explored the quiet beauty of Piazza San Marco, wandered through the nearby alleys, and paused along the canal bridges for those iconic Venice backdrops.
Despite a few surprises—including a seagull dropping a headless pigeon nearby (yes, really)—we laughed through it all and created something special. When you book a local Venice photographer, you get more than just photos—you get someone who knows the best spots, how to work around crowds, and how to guide you gently so you feel natural in front of the camera. Once we parted I was so excited about the photograph we took that I sent them a couple of edits as soon as I got home.

Client Feedback: A Morning to Remember
It was such a special and emotional morning for everybody, that they left the most beautiful review and I just have to share it:
We booked Camilla for a romantic walk photography session so we could finally get some photos together as a couple. We didn’t know what to expect as we had not done a session before, but Camilla made us feel so comfortable and made the entire process so easy!
She gave gentle instruction about what to do in front of the camera, and we didn’t feel awkward or uncomfortable at all.
We walked along the Piazza San Marco and surrounding area. She was great about trying to get shots in despite things happening around us (boats in the way, other photographers/couples, and even a bloody headless pigeon that a seagull threw at us). As she has lived in the San Marco area itself, she knows where to go for cute shots! Camilla was professional, warm, and such a pleasure to spend our morning with! She sent us a few preview photos only a day or so after our session, and we are excited to see the rest of them!”

Delivering Memories: Beyond the Photoshoot
When you book a Venice engagement session with me, you’ll receive your photos through Pic-Time, a beautiful and easy-to-use online gallery. I know many couples never get around to printing their images, so I’ve added an automatic reminder system.
Once your gallery is ready, you’ll get a gentle nudge to print your favorite images—whether as wall art, an album, or a set of fine art prints. And before the gallery expires, you’ll get another reminder so you won’t miss your chance to keep your memories in tangible form.
Planning Your Own Pre Wedding Photos in Venice?
If you’re considering a pre wedding photoshoot in Venice, here are a few tips:
- Best time of day: Sunrise is ideal for soft light and quiet streets.
- Season: Spring and early summer (like May) offer beautiful weather and fewer crowds.
- What to wear: Choose elegant but comfortable outfits that reflect your style. Neutral tones and flowing fabrics photograph beautifully.
- Locations: Piazza San Marco, the small bridges of Dorsoduro or San Polo, and secret alleyways in Castello all offer amazing backdrops.
