Recommended if you’re staying in one town and want to capture a single iconic setting, best suited to sunrise or sunset, and one central location.
Planning a 1-hour photoshoot on the Amalfi Coast means making the most of iconic backdrops and golden lighting—each town offering something uniquely picturesque. You choose one place, and explore it, taking the time to find the best poses and best angles in a limited space and time frame.
In Positano, we can start at the iconic Spiaggia Grande, where the colorful cliffside houses cascade toward the beach. We can shoot from the water’s edge facing the town for a postcard-perfect backdrop, or climb the narrow steps to Via Cristoforo Colombo for a higher vantage point with sweeping views and charming storefronts.
In Ravello, a charming village with winding car-free streets and pretty terraced gardens, we walk around and enjoy. Another possibility is to head straight to Villa Cimbrone’s Terrace of Infinity—a stone balustrade lined with statues that overlooks endless blue sea and sky. The surrounding gardens are equally romantic, with ivy-covered arches, shaded paths, and panoramic nooks ideal for portraits. An important note: Villa Cimbrone now charges 1800 € + taxes for a photoshoot, so you have to consider what your budget is, and I’ll take care of the booking process.

If you have a full two hours for a photoshoot on the Amalfi Coast, you can capture a wide variety of settings within each town—balancing iconic landmarks, hidden gems, and different lighting conditions for a rich, storytelling-style session. Or you can combine two locations with the comfort of a taxi ride between them (I don’t recommend using your own car, if you rented one, because parking in this area is extremely difficult), or, even better, a private boat ride.
In Positano, start at Spiaggia Grande for classic beach shots with the colorful stacked houses rising behind. Then, take the steps up to Via Cristoforo Colombo and Le Sirenuse’s terrace area (even just nearby public spaces) for sweeping views and elegant, elevated framing. The side streets like Viale Pasitea offer quiet corners with flower-covered doorways and rustic textures perfect for lifestyle or fashion shots.
In Ravello, begin at Villa Rufolo with its Moorish arches and lush gardens, then move to Villa Cimbrone’s Terrace of Infinity (a note: taking professional pictures there is not allowed unless you pay a photography fee, contact me to learn more) —you’ll have time to explore its sprawling grounds, stone pathways, and secluded viewpoints. If you want to take pictures in Ravello another option is Villa Rufolo: beautiful view at a much lower price. Don’t skip the charming cobblestone lanes near Piazza Duomo, which glow beautifully during the soft light of morning or pre-sunset.
For Amalfi, a two-hour shoot allows you to cover both historic and coastal vibes: start at Piazza del Duomo, then wander into the nearby Arsenale Museum courtyard for atmospheric arches and stone textures. Follow the Via Lorenzo d’Amalfi alleyways down toward the Marina Grande for shots with boats, sea views, and vibrant street life.
On the island of Capri, a two-hour session lets you shoot at Giardini di Augusto with the Faraglioni in view, then take a short walk through Via Krupp or explore the glamorous vibe of La Piazzetta. If time allows, add a quick stop at the Belvedere of Punta Tragara for an elevated angle over the cliffs and sea. When you have 2 hours, all of these locations can be the starting point for a sunset boat ride, which is an amazing option for a surprise proposal, for example. Most of these villages can be combined in a photosession and boat tour – preferably two locations in total. You won’t be able to see it all, but you’ll have great views from the boat and a few snaps of the towns.
