Ready to start planning your dream photoshoot in Italy?
If you’re dreaming of a honeymoon in Tuscany, imagine golden hills, medieval towns, and sunsets that take your breath away. Then add amazing food, spectacular views, art and history at every corner. That’s exactly what Tiffany and Sam experienced during their long-awaited honeymoon in Italy — a journey that led them to the heart of Tuscany, and a beautiful photoshoot in the charming village of Pienza.

Discovering Pienza: A Hidden Gem for Your Honeymoon in Tuscany
If you’re looking for the perfect mix of authentic Italian charm, peaceful countryside, and timeless romance, Pienza is one of the best-kept secrets in Tuscany. Nestled in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pienza offers a quieter, more intimate alternative to the tourist-heavy towns — making it a dream destination for honeymooners.
A Town Built for Beauty and Love
Pienza is often called the “Ideal City of the Renaissance.” It was redesigned in the 15th century by Pope Pius II (who was born there) as a utopian vision of urban planning — with perfect symmetry, sunlit piazzas, and harmonious architecture. Its main square, Piazza Pio II, is framed by a cathedral, a papal palace, and charming stone buildings, making it feel like a romantic movie set.
Strolling hand-in-hand through its cobblestone streets, you’ll find artisan shops, quaint cafes, and hidden terraces with stunning panoramic views of the Val d’Orcia countryside. Everything in Pienza is walkable, peaceful, and filled with little moments of magic.
The Views Are Unforgettable
Pienza is perched on a hill, overlooking sweeping valleys dotted with cypress trees, golden wheat fields, and olive groves. Whether you’re enjoying a morning espresso or a sunset walk, the Tuscan light here feels almost cinematic — especially in spring and fall.
The view from Via dell’Amore (Street of Love) is a must-see. It’s a quiet walkway with benches and breathtaking scenery, making it one of the most romantic spots in town.
Pecorino Cheese, Local Wine, and Tuscan Flavors
Pienza is also known as the home of Pecorino di Pienza, a delicious sheep’s milk cheese that’s aged in everything from wine barrels to ash and hay. You’ll smell it as you walk through town — and tasting it is a must! Pair it with a glass of Brunello di Montalcino or Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, both produced just a short drive away.
Many local restaurants offer cozy, candlelit dinners with regional specialties like handmade pici pasta, truffle dishes, and rich stews — perfect for a romantic meal after a day of exploring.
Why Pienza Is Perfect for a Honeymoon Photoshoot
Because of its natural light, peaceful atmosphere, and fairytale scenery, Pienza is one of the most photogenic towns in Tuscany. It’s ideal for intimate honeymoon photos, whether in the golden glow of sunset, among the cypress-lined paths nearby, or with the soft, rolling hills in the background.

From Rhode Island to the Rolling Hills of Tuscany
Tiffany and Sam traveled all the way from Providence, Rhode Island. After getting married in 2023, their honeymoon plans were postponed due to Sam’s military commitments. But May 2024 brought their Italian dream to life — a romantic escape across Lake Como, Rome, Tuscany and more.
Originally, the couple inquired about a Lake Como photoshoot, but after discussing their tight plans in Lake Como, we decided to take it slower in Tuscany. Specifically, Pienza — a little gem nestled in the Val d’Orcia countryside, perfect for lovers looking to slow down and soak in Italy’s timeless beauty.
Sunset Magic in Pienza
We met in the late afternoon, just in time for golden hour. The medieval streets of Pienza were glowing under the Tuscan sun, setting the perfect scene for capturing their love story. As we wandered through the quiet alleys and historic stone buildings, Tiffany and Sam shared moments of laughter and connection — a couple very much in love, finally on the honeymoon they had been waiting for.
From there, we made our way up a scenic path that offered sweeping views over the town of Pienza, surrounded by iconic Tuscan cypresses and softly rolling hills. With the sun setting behind them, the landscape transformed into a palette of warm pastels — the perfect backdrop for some unforgettable portraits.

Client Love
After receiving their gallery, Tiffany shared this beautiful message:
“These photos are AMAZING!! Thank you SO much for these memories, I could not have imagined anything better. I appreciate you so much. I can’t stop looking at them.”
It’s messages like these that remind me why I do what I do. Capturing love stories in such meaningful places is truly a privilege.

The Best Things to Do on Your Honeymoon in Tuscany
Tuscany is a magical honeymoon destination, just like most places in Italy. Whether you’re here for a week or just a few days, there’s no shortage of unforgettable activities to make your honeymoon in Tuscany truly magical.
Ride horses through the vineyards at sunset in the Chianti region, book a private wine tasting tour at a historic family-run estate, or take a leisurely vespa ride through the countryside. Visit thermal baths in towns like Bagno Vignoni or Saturnia for a relaxing soak, or explore Renaissance art and architecture in Florence. For something more hands-on, try a Tuscan cooking class where you’ll learn to make pasta or pizza from scratch. And of course, don’t miss the romantic charm of towns like Siena, San Gimignano, Montepulciano, and Cortona.
Why Choose Tuscany for Your Honeymoon?
Tuscany offers an ideal blend of romance, history, and natural beauty. Whether you’re strolling through Florence, sipping wine in Chianti, or exploring medieval hill towns like Pienza and Montepulciano, there’s no shortage of intimate, picturesque experiences. Even though you can find tourists almost everywhere, the region of Tuscany is so vast that you never feel like a place is overcrowded, especially in the countryside.
For Tiffany and Sam, their honeymoon in Tuscany wasn’t just about the destination — it was about slowing down and reconnecting. The quiet charm of Pienza gave them space to reflect, celebrate, and capture memories that will last a lifetime. It was especially beautiful to learn, after a year, that they welcomed a baby boy into the world!
