Couple photoshoot in Venice between San Polo and the canals

Couple photographs in San Polo on a sunny September day in Venice

The meeting point for our photoshoot in Venice was Cà Nigra Lagoon Resort, a beautiful hotel with a unique garden on the Grand Canal. Sarv and Eric came down from their room exquisitely elegant, ready for our photo session but also for their night at the opera at La Fenice.

Excited to have professional couple photos to bring home, we dived into the San Polo neighborhood, the smallest of the six districts, as well as one of the oldest. San Polo is now one of the liveliest areas in Venice, packed with stores, markets and local charm.

San Polo is a quiet, romantic and green neighborhood, perfect for couples willing to explore the hidden side of Venice

Walking around the quiet neighborhood of San Polo, Sarv and Eric were so clearly taken by each other.Walking hand in hand, they took in all of the beauty of the area, between Campo San Giacomo and campo San Polo. Walking and chatting, they told me about their long distance love story.

A passionate love story in the most beautiful setting there is: Venice

Exploring their love for each other in Italy, between Tuscany and Venice

Sarv, an accomplished dermatologist with a very full life in San Francisco, met Eric while on a trip on the Grand Canyon. It was love at first sight. The logistics were complicated, but Eric’s job as a rafting instructor is a seasonal job and that allowed him to meet her in San Francisco more and more.

They came to Italy because of a friend’s wedding in Tuscany and decided to take a romantic detour to Venice, just the two of them.

A gondola ride, a prosecco toast and off to the opera to see Madama Butterfly

We took a gondola in San Polo and explored the hidden canals, with a glass of prosecco in hand as the perfect aperitivo  before a night at the opera La Fenice. Our gondolier heard that they wanted a drink and stopped the gondola to get to a friend’s ba. He brought back two glasses of prosecco plus some appetizers – first class service!

When we said goodbye they were ready to reach La Fenice, the famous Venice opera theater. The show was Madama Butterly, one of the most notable operas by Giacomo Puccini. The perfect way to close a very Italian day.
