A luxurious summer holiday in Venice for Dottie and Blake

This was not the first holiday in Venice for Dottie. We met in 2019 when she was visiting Italy with her children, and we had an energetic sunrise photo session in Piazza San Marco. Dottie is a successful lawyer in Dallas and she was taking her kids around Europe before they went their own way, both old enough for college.

We ended up having a solo photoshoot, and she said the results were “magical”. Then Covid came and time passed, but when she contacted me again in 2022 it was like meeting an old friend. Dottie is fun, beautiful, a joy to be with.

This time it was a couples photoshoot: her husband Blake was traveling with her in Venice.

They told me that their holiday plans included a European grand tour and also a visit to Turkey, and the Middle East. They booked the luxurious five star hotel Luna Baglioni for their time in Venice, to enjoy the city from the best possible spot, with a magnificent view over Punta della Dogana and the Giudecca Canal.

A taxi ride to enjoy Venice with a little wind in the hair

We met at 8 am, but the temperatures were already intense – in Venice we have seen up to 35°C – and I recommended a water taxi to make the session more fun and a little more fresh. Dottie donned two amazing pink dresses for the occasion, designer shoes and a lot of stylish accessories.

The Island of San Giorgio, with its perfect view over San Marco was our first stop. Then we stopped in the area of Punta della Dogana, to enjoy the shade and the very different atmosphere, with exposed brick walls covered with ivy and a stunning church.
