Engagement photos in the colorful island of Burano
Pre-wedding engagement photos in Burano, in the middle of a beautiful summer in Venice
Summer engagement session in Burano: afternoon photographs, waiting for the wedding
The pre wedding photos in Burano were a beautiful choice for Camilla and Francesco. Burano opened up after weeks of lockdown and it is more beautiful than ever.
Camilla and Francesco planned their wedding for June 20th, 2020, but coronavirus forced them to change the date and have a September wedding instead. In the meantime we kept thinking about a great location for engagement photos. They had amazing ideas: Val D’Orcia in Tuscany, the Dolomites, and the islands of the Venice lagoon.
Burano was finally the winning location for their pre wedding photos
After a couple of months of chatting and planning, and planning again on different dates because of coronavirus, we opted for the closest destination: Venice and the island of Burano. Camilla and Francesco live in the city of Venice, but as it often happens, never visit the islands of the lagoon. Burano is actually quite remote: from Mestre to Burano the trip is about one hour and a half.
Engaged and in love, in a pre-wedding photo session between Burano and Saint Marks square
We rediscovered the narrow roads of Burano together, between an ice cream and a chat.
I recommended Camilla to wear neautral colors, so that the pastel color of the houses of Burano would really pop. At sunset, we got back to Venice. The vaporetto stops at Fondamente Nove, on the least touristic side of Venice. We then walked towards Saint Mark’s square to capture the last rays of light on Riva degli Schiavoni.
Camilla and Francesco were just telling me about the dance classes they took to get ready for the wedding. When we got to Saint Mark’s Square, we found out that the cafès had opened again, after the long lockdown and the famous orchestras are back too.
We were passing by Cafè Florian, when Camilla looked at Francesco: “I can’t believe this!”.
They were playing THEIR song, the one they chose for the first dance: “Can’t help falling in love” by Elvis Presley. It will be so emotional to see then dance at their wedding, finally, for the first time as husband and wife! To explore Venice with a photographer is like seeing it again for the first time. It is incredible how places that locals have seen so many times, come to life again in pictures.
