This December photoshoot in Venice Italy proves that any month of the year, no matter the weather, you can have soft, dreamy, romantic photographs. Juan Diego contacted me to surprise his girlfriend with a photography session, after the marriage proposal. He was planning to take her to Venice as a holiday gift and ask her to marry him during a gondola ride.

Juan Diego wanted the marriage proposal to be private and intimate

So he didn’t contact me to be on the gondola during the proposal. He had a clear mind about that. But he still wanted some photographs with Laura, his soon to be fiancée, in Venice, with the Christmas lights and all of the winter holiday vibes. He feared bad weather and acqua alta. Instead we had the most beautiful winter morning in Venice.

The meeting point and start of our photoshoot was Café Florian

I like to use this café as a meeting point because it sits right at the center of San Marco square. Unfortunately, when we meet for a sunrise photoshoot in Venice the café is still closed: it opens at 10 am. You can still enjoy a coffee at this historical establishment after our shoot.

Excited to have professional engagement photos to bring home, Laura and Juan Diego showed me the ring and told me something about their story. Walking hand in hand, they took in all of the beauty of the San Marco area.

We explored a the Castello sestiere and said goodbye by the Greek Orthodox Church

After the loveliest morning together, we said goodbye and they went back to their hotel for a long and well deserved breakfast. This December engagement photoshoot in Venice was such a lucky time. The light was at its best and the quiet, silent streets of Venice on a December morning are some of the most romantic experiences there are.
